Eyelid Surgery – Blepharoplasty
About Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid lifting surgery, blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin or fat on the eyelids. The purpose of the eyelid surgery is to correct the sagging and low-looking eyelid, making it more aesthetic. When eyelid aesthetics is needed, the under-eye bags are also intervened. Removal of under-eye bags or, in other words, the aesthetics of the bags make your under-eye more flat and smooth.
Thanks to this surgery, which is performed to reshape your eyelids, the quality of vision of people increases and they start to see more healthily. At the same time, after the eyelid surgery, your eyes appear larger, the lines around the eyelid decrease and the bagging problem in the lower eyelid disappears.
How is eyelid surgery performed?
Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) is usually completed under local anesthesia. If the patient will have combined surgeries other than eyelid aesthetics, general anesthesia may be more appropriate.
The patient’s eyelid is anesthetized with local anesthesia in order to remove the lower eyelid lowness and give the patient a younger eye shape. Excess skin and muscle are cut and removed in a way that best suits the patient’s eye structure. In some cases, if the patient’s fat pads are more than normal, these fats are removed and the patient is aimed to have a younger and firmer eyelid. If you want to give your eyes an almond eye shape, you can make it combined with almond eye aesthetics.
Local anesthesia is performed to remove the sagging and under-eye bags in the lower eyelid. An incision is made just under the lower lashes. By entering through this incision, the fat packs on the lower eyelid are repositioned, and excess fat is removed if needed. If the person’s lower eyelid is drooping, this also affects the patient’s cheek appearance. For this reason, you can combine the lower eyelid aesthetics with the middle facelift surgery.
Will there be a scar after eyelid aesthetics?
In this surgery for eyelid lifting and eyelid stretching, the scars are hidden between the folds of the eyelid. No obvious scar is visible after surgery. The surgical scar on the lower eyelid is hidden under the eyelash base, making the patient look more aesthetic.
Healing process
The upper eyelid aesthetic lasts an average of 1 hour. Lower eyelid aesthetics may take up to 1.5 hours depending on the situation. You can be discharged the same day after surgery. Usually, the healing process is completed within 1-2 weeks. You should make sure that your head is always high so that the edema in your eyes decreases. Your sutures are removed one week after surgery.
